Holy Monastery of the Holy Trinity of Melitaia

Holy Monastery of the Holy Trinity of Melitaia

The Holy Monastery of the Holy Trinity of Melitaia is located on the site of ancient Melitaia, a city of Achaia Phthiotis. Its reconstruction dates to the years of Ottoman rule. Building material from the ancient city has in fact been used. Among this material, an ancient inscription stands out, preserving the treaty between the Pereans and the Melitaians in the 3rd century BCE. Today it is used as the base of the Holy Altar Table. The monastery, in the form we see today, was built in 1917 (cells added).
